The International Discworld Convention is a gathering of Terry Pratchett fans to celebrate his superb catalogue of work, in particular, the Discworld. Occurring in the wilds of the UK every two years, the Convention is organised by fans, for fans, and is a true amalgamation of love for the author we all miss.
I have been asked to both teach a workshop and give a talk on worldbuilding.
Building Your Fantasy
This is not an apprenticeship for brick-laying or anything NSFW, but your opportunity to come along and learn from the best on how to create your own fantasy map for a non-existent world of your imagination. Learn why you can’t stick a sea at the top of a mountain, a village at the bottom of a chasm, or an airport with no rail connectivity to the closest large city.
Workshop:
Saturday 3rd August 1pm – 2pm
The Baron’s Castle (Millers Room)
Hilton Metropole Hotel, Birmingham
Talk:
Monday 5th August 12pm – 1pm
Home Farm (Kings – Sandringham Room)
Hilton Metropole Hotel, Birmingham
