Yesterday, I was trading at Edge-Lit; an annual literary event in Derby that celebrates the best of horror, science-fiction, and fantasy writing. It was fabulous to meet lots of lovely new people and to catch up with lots of old friends.
I’ve been attending Edge-Lit for a full decade now. Ten years ago, I was invited to the book launch of the ‘Potatoes’ anthology released by KnightWatch Press, where I read an excerpt of my short story, Killing Ghosts.
The event is so friendly and close-knit, and I quickly felt that I had found my tribe. And I’ve forged friendships there that have lasted, and will continue to last. And I’ve met cheerleaders there who have supported my work, and still continue to do so. I’ve taught many workshops, sat on panels, and even chaired some.
Edge-Lit holds a very special place in my heart, and I hope that I can continue to attend it for decades to come.
