I’m thrilled to share that one of my most unique pieces—a hand-embroidered fantasy map titled Threads of Fantasy—is currently on display at the Celebrating Creativity exhibition, hosted by Coalville CAN.
The exhibition, running until Saturday 3rd May, brings together a vibrant collection of work from local artists, makers, and creators across a range of mediums. From paintings and textiles to sculpture and photography, it’s a wonderful showcase of the creative spirit thriving in and around Coalville.
For me, this isn’t just another map. Threads of Fantasy began as a personal challenge; to take my love of fantasy cartography off the page and into a more tactile, handcrafted form. Every mountain, river, and forest was carefully stitched by hand, blending traditional embroidery techniques with my passion for worldbuilding. The result is a one-of-a-kind piece that weaves storytelling and artistry together, quite literally, thread by thread.
Seeing it framed and hanging in a gallery space is both surreal and deeply rewarding. As someone who usually works behind the scenes—whether drawing maps, writing guides, or building fictional worlds—this moment feels like a quiet celebration of creativity in all its forms.
If you’re local to Leicestershire, I’d highly recommend stopping by. The exhibition is free to enter, and you’ll discover a wealth of talent from artists working in every imaginable medium. Plus, if you’ve ever been curious to see how a fantasy world looks when it’s stitched rather than sketched, now’s your chance!
Threads of Fantasy is also available for purchase through the gallery.
